Wilfred Thomas served in the first world war - he became a captain and served as an official interpreter in France. He was a talented footballer apparently and had played for Wales as a schoolboy - he was offered a professional contract by Blackburn Rovers but his father would not allow him to take it up and insisted he work in a bank instead as the future was more secure. He is centre front of the football team - we assume this is an 'army' team but don't know where or when.
